Geographic location: The province is bounded by Dak Lak to the north, Lâm Đồng to the east and Southeast, Bình Phước and Cambodia to the west

Topographic features
: The province has quite flat terrain with large grasslands in the east and slightly slopping to the west. There is low land with many lakes in the south area distributed along the Krong No, Srepok, the regional districts of Cu Jut, Krong Nô. Terrain is relatively flat with slope from 0-30, suitable for growing food, short-term industrial crops, animal husbandry and poultry.

Plateau topography mainly in Dak Glong, Gia Nghia town, Dak Mil, Dak Song, average elevation of 800 m, the slope on the 150. This is the land area is mostly basalt, very suitable for development of perennial industrial crops, forestry and cattle breeding.

"Natural resources: Dak Nông has various forest resources with a lot of wood and valuable trees. There is a bauxite mine with exploitable volume of 5 billion tons, (the biggest in the south east Asia), 20 km from Gia Nghĩa in the Southeast; a sapphire gemstone mine in Dak Rung, Dak Song, Dak Nông; a gold mine with high volume. These help the province attract investments on mining and energy industry.


- Tourism resources: Many famous landscapes with 31 ethnic groups of M, Nông, Ê Đê, etc. convenient  for developing cultural ecology tourism. There is a system of visiting points such as Trinh Nữ, Đray Sáp, Gia Long, Ba Tầng, Ngầm waterfall, Liêng Nung, Đắk N,Tao tourist area, M,Nông cultural village.
Hydrology and potential hydropower

a) Hydrology: Dak Nong is the network of rivers and streams are distributed fairly throughout. This is more convenient to exploit water resources for agricultural production, construction of hydropower plants to serve the industry and economic needs of students. The river flows through the territory of the province:

Srepok River by two tributaries Nô and Krong Krong Na confluence with each other in operation Buon Dray (district Krong Na).. Flow through the province on the territory Cu Jut district. "Transportation system: Đăk Nông located on the southern gate of the Central highland. There are national highways No.14, 14C and 28 to Hồ Chí Minh city, Đăk Lăk, Lâm Đồng and to other provinces in the south. The province has national border gate in Bu Prăng, Đăk Pơ making it convenient for cross border trading and attracting tourists from Cambodia to Central highland by roadway. The Ho Chi Minh Highway runs through Dak Nong, as does National Highway 28, making it possible for the province to trade with other provinces/cities. Through the Bu Prang and Dak Peur border crossings in Dak Nong goods can pass to and from Cambodia and countries located further along the East-West economic corridor.

The province will be harvesting its resources and expects to achieve high economic growth by increasing production and trade. Agricultural and forest production is to take place in compliance with approved plans which call for scientific and technological development, and industry is being promoted to insure sustainable development.

In addition, it is expected that transportation and irrigation projects will go forward and electric power networks and water systems will be improved. Forums are to take place to present investment opportunities such as hydroelectric power and farm produce production, forest product processing, mining, and industrial zone infrastructure construction in order to attract more investors to Dak Nong. The province plans to speed up the more important construction projects, create rural trade and service networks, link production and processing with trade, improve its trade promotion activities and financial policies, and put in place a one-door policy to attract more investment - especially foreign investment.

Provincial authorities recognize the need for more state and non-state investment in education, healthcare, the protection of local cultures and the environment and development in the region and they are confident that the province will be going in a forward direction."

+ Services: Consider tourism as a key industry for development not only for economic purpose but also for tradition education, cultural reservation and environment protection; Promote the comprehensive development of delivery and selling system in the locality; Set up finance, banking, assurance, investment support, consulting, transportation, telecommunication, market information exchange; Promote innovation & creation in action research to directly meet demands of daily life. 


+ Agriculture-Forestry-Fishery: It is planned to reach the growth rate of 6% in the period of 2006-2010; Comprehensively implement the package of measurements, especially key measurements to change the agriculture and rural economic structure to level up the GDP contribution of husbandry, forestry, and non-agriculture activities as well as producing high standard products with high tech added value and market potentiality; apply modern technology in production; Comprehensively develop social economic infrastructure in rural areas, especially the irrigation system in the areas of ethnic minority groups; speed up urbanization – a key measure to implement modernization in rural areas.


+ Industry: Promote the development of processing industries such as coffee, rubber, pepper, cashew nut, bean, silk, and wood processing; Encourage development of building material production, hydro power projects; Focus on development of small and medium industrial and handicraft businesses in rural areas; Spare resources for key projects such as hydro power plant, rubber plant, bauxite mine and aluminum plant; Support the application of new technology and quality control standards."
