Gia Lai is located in the northern Highland on average height of 700 - 800 meter over sea level. The province shares border with Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen on the east, Dak lak on the south and Kon Tum on the north. It also has 90 kilometers border line with Ratanakiri province - Cambodia.
Area: 15.536 km2

Ethnic groups: 34 (ethnic minorities account for over 44%)
Climate: There are two seasons, the rainy season lasts from May to November and the dry season lasts from December to April. The annual average temperature varies between 21 and 25ºC. The west of Truong Son Ranges has annual average rainfall is 2,200 - 2,500mm. The east of Truong Son Ranges has annual average rainfall is 1,200 - 1,750mm
Transportation:
There are several national roads running through the province. National Road No 19 connects Quy Nhon seaport and Le Thanh Border Gate to No 78 road going to Rattanakiri province (Cambodia), Laos and Thailand. National Road 14 connects 5 provinces in Highland area to Bo Y Border Gate, No 24 National Road and No 25 National Road. Pleiku airport has daily flights to big cities of the country.
Post and telecommunication system: The system has been digitalized and connected to the national system. There are 25,000 subscribers. 100% of the communes, wards, towns in the locality have telephone service.
Power: Because of having much rivers and springs, potentiality of hydroelectricity of Gia Lai is very huge. There are several hydro plants in this province such as Ia Ly, Sê San 3, Sê San 3A, Sê San 4, 4A, An Khê – KaNat...with total capacity of 2.300MW which contribute to 7 billion Kwh to the country.
