Quang Ngai
Geographic location: Quang Ngai stretches from 14 ° 32 'and 15 ° 25' North, from 108 ° 06 'to 109 ° 04' East, entitled to the mountains of Truong Son overlooking the South China Sea, the northern border province of Quang Nam, the southern border provinces Binh Dinh, west province of Kon Tum, the east China Sea.
Quang Ngai is a coastal province of Central Vietnam, 883 km South of North of Ho Chi Minh City, bordering Binh Dinh province to the South, Quang Ngai to the North, Kon Tum province to the West and the East Sea to the East.
Quang Ngai plays an important strategic role in the Pivotal Economic Central Vietnam and East - West Economic Corridor bordering with Laos, and Mianmar for its advantage of geographical central point of Vietnam are facilities for road and waterway system, including the National Highway TransViet Railway running through the province, the National Road 24 B link Highland Provinces, Dung Quat deep seaport Northeast of Quang Ngai province International Airport, 35 km North of Quang Ngai. In addition, in the year 2004 projects namely Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway, the inter provincial routes Tra Bong – Tra My – Tacpo – Dacto, linking to Ho Chi Minh Highway, are under facilitating the new orientation of the development of tourism and industry province.
Situated in the pivotal economic area of the Central Vietnam, right on the National Highway 1A and the Trans-Viet Railway, connected with the Central Highland by the Access Road 24A, Quang Ngai - a coastal province of 130Km coastline with two large seaports of Dung Quat and Sa Ky - have proved themselves places favorable for communication and development.

Topographic features: Topography consists of mountain (accounting for 63% of the total natural area), midland and plain (accounting for 37%).
Administrative units: The province is divided into 1 city (Quang Ngai city) and 13 districts: Binh Son, Son Tinh, Tu Nghia, Nghia Hanh, Mo Đuc, Đuc Pho, Tra Bong, Tay Tra, Son Tra, Son Tay, Minh Long, Ba To, Ly Sơn..

Natural resources: The province has 513,520 hectares of natural land, including 99,055 hectares of agricultural land, 144,164 hectares of forestry land, 20,979 hectares of specialized area, 242,910 hectares of unused, streams, rivers and rock mountains. The province has over 130 km of coastal line with a large fishing area of 1,100 km2 which can be effectively exploited (mainly surface fish with the reserve of 68,000 tons of all kinds). This is the key industry of the province. Quang Ngai is endowed by nature with mineral resources such as graphite mine in Son Tinh, bauxite mine in Binh Son, peat mine in Binh Son, etc.
- Tourism resources: The province has Sa Huynh culture relics, Thien An pagoda, Chau Sa citadel, Son My vestige, Dam Toai tunnels in Binh Chau commune, Ba To revolutionary base, tomb of patriot Huynh Thuc Khang, etc. Besides Quang Ngai has 130 km of coastal line with poetic landscapes suitable for tourism development such as Sa Huynh beach, My Khe seaside, Dung Quat deep pond, Batangan cape, Ly Son island (a peaceful and very beautiful landscape with lively and wild fishing port).
Transportation system: It is quite convenient with 3 major means of transportation: roadway, railway and waterway. Roadway: There are several important national highways (No. 1A, 24A, 24B) running through the province. Railway: the North – South railway route runs along the province. The railway routes linking Dung Quat port to the North – South railway and Tri Binh goods station will be built in 2010. Waterway: Dung Quat deep water port which is one of the biggest ports of the country helps develop the province’s economy.
- Power supply system: At present, 168/179 communes of the province (accounting for 93.8%) are being supplied with electricity by the national 500 KV power network.
- Water supply system: Quang Ngai city is supplied with water by Quang Ngai water supply plant with the capacity of 15,000m3/day (improved to raise the capacity to 20.000m3/day). The water supply plant in Dung Quat economic zone has the current capacity of 15,000m3/day in Phase I (to be improved to raise the capacity to 50.000m3/day - 100.000m3/day in Phase II).
- Post and telecommunication system: There are 310 post offices including 23 post offices, 150 communal cultural points - post offices, 138 multi-service post agents. All communes have connected telephones with the total subscribers (mobile + fixed VNPT telephones) of 191,000 (15 pieces in 100 persons). Service area per one post office is 2 km. Mobile phones are available in all city, districts.
- Industrial zones: Quang Ngai has 4 industrial zones: Tinh Phong IZ with the total area of 141.72 hectares in Tinh Phong commune, Son Tinh district; Dung Quat IZ with the total area of 10,300 hectares in Binh Chanh, Binh Hoa and Binh Phu communes, Quang Ngai city; Pho Phong IZ with the total area of 138 hectares in Pho Phong and Pho Nhon communes, Duc Pho district"

+ Services: It is planned to focus on developing tourism, financing, banking, post- telecommunication, transportation; develop new services meeting the demands for development, especially demands of Dung Quat economic zone; diversify tourism types, attract tourists by improving accommodation, tourism products; establish new tourism points & routes in connection with those of other areas; complete existing construction of tourism centers; attract investment on Ca Dam – Nuoc Trong ecology tourism center.
+ Agriculture-Forestry-Fishery :
Agriculture: It is planned to make changes in term of quality, quantity and effectiveness; apply new technology in production; invent new breeds; make changes in the sector’s structure to increase the proportion of breeding. Forestry: increase centered and protection forests, implement afforestation, increase forestry coverage as guided by the Central authority. Fishery: it is planned to change the sector’s structure to increase the proportion of seafood growing and processing; invest on constructing fishing ports, fishing villages and fishing supporting services.
+ Industry: it is planned to continue changing technology, equipment, facilities to make more products of high competitiveness meeting the demands of globalization; develop oil refining industry, metallurgy, engineering, electronics with high technology, construction material production, mineral mining and processing.
